We
are a group of people (that is to say we are artists, teachers,
consultants, librarians, volunteer firemen, family, you), and like the
rest of the world we needed to express our emotions about the events
that took place on September 11th. Some of us do art for a living,
Some as a hobby, and some have not done art for years. Each person
was given one 4' x 4' human figure (based on Leonardo DiVinci's figure)
and one 4' x 4' background. The Figure was back illuminated by out
door rope lights, which has given each figure a halo. We have used
paint, clay, paper, photos, metal, anything we needed or could find.
Once we finished all of our figures they where placed hand to hand
around a room. When you walk into the room you are then surrounded
by all ours/your emotions. There is a wire section that is for
children and adults of all ages to do their own smaller works and hang
them, This area represents all the make shift memorials that went
up all over the world. And lastly there is a sculpture in the
middle of the room that represents the only standing girders after the
building collapsed, with hope rising from out of the ground.
